After many lessons learned, we are proud to have grown our company and our impact. scDataCom now employs a 30 person team, with over 50% Veteran employees, and provides our services to some of the most respected companies in the region.

HOW we STARTED : our story
After graduating college and working for several years as a Fine Art Consultant, Alaina identified a potential market in Federal Telecommunications Sales, which she thought might better align with her background and values. As a lifelong military “brat” and Information Technology junkie, she loved the idea of working in an industry that allowed her to do work that benefited Veterans and service members, while cultivating her interest and expertise in IT and Telecommunications. She boldly took the entrepreneurial leap and founded scDataCom. Alaina began to grow her vision, her team and a client base in the Savannah area but struggled with how to advance her fledgling business to “the next level”.
Meanwhile her mother, Kathleen, was enjoying a well deserved first year of retirement after a 26 year career in the U.S. Army. She was just beginning to feel the stirring for a new challenge, when Alaina approached with an offer she couldn’t refuse - to capitalize on her decades of strategy and leadership experience and help her daughter turn her fledging business into a sustainable reality. In 2014, Kathleen joined Alaina as a co-owner and business partner and the two have been running scDataCom together ever since. They claim their mother-daughter partnership to be a natural fit and the secret to scDataCom’s success.
scDataCom is first and foremost a family owned, Savannah-based business with deep ties to our community and employees. Additionally, we are nationally certified as a Woman Owned Small
Business (WOSB/WBE), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), and a Historically Underutilized Small Business (HubZone), and locally certified as a Savannah Small Business Enterprise (SBE). We are proud of these affiliations and are committed to representing these relationships in a way that reflects positively on the populations that we represent.
Locally, scDataCom serves Savannah’s small business community, area hospitals and healthcare clinics, the K-12 schools system, various City and County agencies, and a host of commercial and industrial customers to include Georgia Ports Authority. We also take our talent on the road; scDataCom has extensive contract experience providing Low Voltage & Security Integration services for Federal customers nation-wide. Our team has traveled to 27 states (and counting!) in order to improve the security posture of federal customers such as the Department of Defense, GSA Public Building Services, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The scDataCom team is comprised of a talented pool of “honey badgers” - experts with decades of cumulative industry experience and industry leading certifications who find a way to bring each project to a successful conclusion.
